Habitat Restoration and Gardening Resources

rose mallow In our programming on organic gardening and habitat restoration, we strongly encourage the use of native plants which have evolved side-by-side with the wildlife dependent upon them. Additionally, all sources of plants, seeds and equipment we recommend come from companies that hold the same values we share with our students. Below, please find suggested species, tips and suppliers for creation of sustainable and ecologically sound yards and habitats in the Northeast United States / Southeast Canada. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or other recommendations.

We recommend plants that support Native Bees. Research indicates European Honey Bees are more productive in the presence of Native Bees. Supporting native bees will also help sustain honeybees.
